No time for future plans, Mr. Vat

In Thailand the pandemic crisis exploded, evicting thousands of precarious workers overnight. Sukhumvit's Skytrain concrete overpasses and bridges became makeshift shelters for this new class of urban poor, including Mr. Vat. In those nights of wandering, I met him several times, on the sidewalk or under a bridge, alone or with his friends. Few words except a couple of times when we had some longer talks and a beer.
With his broken english, he ended up by repeating always the same concept: I just think of surviving and having enough food to eat. If I had more time and energy, I would be able to sit and think about my future.
This is not his story, just a selection of hundreds of images taken during sleepless nights in an almost deserte Bangkok when these faces and places became a sort of obsession.
